Mallorca is located off the south-east of Spain and is the largest island in the Balearic archipelago with over 3,600 square kilometers of area to play, relax, shop, and be entertained in. It is divided into three main regions: the (la Serra de) Tramuntana mountains, the (la Serra de) Llevant mountains and Es Pla. The mountains are much loved by those looking for an active and adventurous holiday retreat where trekking and bike riding are common to come across – it is also possible to see the brief episodes of snow at the highest peaks during the winter months.

Mallorca offers a rich diversity of areas to work and play in with
Palma, a lively and exciting city, being easily accessible which makes it a great location for conferences and conventions. Palma offers technological parks, large auditoriums and meeting rooms in hotels and has a wide variety of select restaurants and venues close to the sea and to culture presenting the perfect place for business. Palma also has the added allure of being the capital city of Mallorca and the capital of the community of the Balearic Islands. But that’s not all. The island offers a variety of shopping facilities with Palma being the centre of fashion with Jaime III Street and the Paseo del Borne offering many chain brands. However, if you prefer to have a quick find and purchase in a smaller area, the city also offers two Courte Ingles centres.

The beaches and coves are well known for their quality, facilities, clear waters and fine sand and with 300 beaches to choose; from popular to secluded it will be hard not to find a beach you’ll like. La Playa de es Trenc is the most popular beach located in the southeast however the best coves can be found in the north and west of the island.
Mallorca’s cuisine has a considerable variety of dishes and due to the high quality of local products, it’s hard not to eat out. Some dishes are known internationally such as the sobrassada, a spicy kind of sausage; the ensaimada, a sweet pastry, and Hierbas which is a renowned spirits. But there’s much more to discover!
Property in Mallorca

To buy a property in Mallorca, you’ll need to open up a Spanish bank account, appoint a lawyer (who will also obtain an NIE number which is obligatory to own a property) and obtain a mortgage. Many lenders are happy to set up a mortgage for foreigner buyers but will generally only lend up to 70% of the property’s value.
Additional costs to consider when buying are the 7% tax which is payable to the government and there is usually a 1% charge for legal services. Any further charges are made for the Notary, property registration, mortgage fees etc.
Activities
Due to the mild winters, it is possible for golf enthusiasts to play nearly every day of the year. There are currently 16 golf courses dotted around the island which offer varied

landscapes. Cyclists also enjoy the terrain in Mallorca and can take advantage of the landscapes and trails for at least 9 months of the year (summer is usually too hot). Tourists from all over Europe travel here to enjoy the sport and can rest in the many hotels that specialise in cycling.
There are many horse riding schools that operate throughout the island with many adventures available from trekking up the mountains or down by the sea. The sea offers another range of activities with sailing being a popular sport.
Influenced by the Muslim past settlements and the Spanish reign, tourists will be able to see Mallorca’s rich cultural heritage through the Medieval buildings, the Cathedral of Palma, the
Santa Eulalia Church, the
Castle of Bellver, the walls in
Alcudia and Gaudi’s cultural heritage all of which are worth visiting and are guaranteed to charm visitors. But if this isn’t quite enough, there are museums offering art and cultural heritage.
