On Saturday 14 June the Land & Brand New Homes team completed the Ribbon Walk without any major injuries ... but boy did 10 miles seem a long way at the time!!!
It was a fantastic day ...
The walk was set in the beautiful grounds of
Petworth House, which was amazing with lakes along the way, herds of deer running across our path, fabulous views over the countryside and an occasional 'chocolate box' picturesque cottage here and there. And to top it all ... the weather was perfect!
A mass of pink t-shirts gathered in the grounds at the off and following an encouraging

speech from
Woman & Home editor Sue James and the Chief Executive of
Breast Cancer Care, Samia al Qadhi, the Green Goddess, Diana Moran (remember her on BBC's Breakfast Time?!) warmed us all up.
Linda Barker (
Changing Rooms) started the race and off we went ... a river of pink flowing along the walkways!
Mark ... a walk in the park (literally) - he enjoyed the challenge the most and finished well ahead of the rest of the team in just 3 hours. He didn't even do the warm up - he pretended to tie up his laces instead! Poor Mark - he was in the minority when it came to male contenders!

Tina ... was a star. She listened to Nicki moaning about how much of the walk was up-hill and didn't complain once even though she ended up with blisters the size of fifty pence pieces on each of her heels, which resulted in a trip the doctors! She and Nicki even managed to swerve the country pub on en-route - it was SO tempting!!
Julie ... our most prepared team member, with a full training regime in place and the purchase of some 'MBTs'. What? I hear you ask? Apparently they are trainers that tone muscle groups, reduce stress on joints etc ...
read more . We were impressed - Julie's preferred aerobic exercise was previously juggling two boxes of wine from the supermarket to her car!
Nicki ... struggled the most! The previous 2 weeks spent on a sun lounger in Cuba did no favours whatsoever! However, Tina gave much support and didn't moan about her frequent stops to do some stretching! Following the walk, queuing up for the complimentary BBQ - her legs seized up and she was asleep in bed by 8pm!
The whole event was very well managed and we had much support along the way with volunteers, friends and families cheering us on! Check points offered water, fruit, sweets and encouragement to keep us going.
AND ... we raised a total of £2035.00, which includes a generous donation of £1000 from Bob and Heather. So it was well worth doing for such a great cause and I think we'd all do it again!!!

You can still donate if you wish ...
